Allegro Introduces Industry's Smallest Sin/Cos 3D Position Sensor

     Allegro MicroSystems, a global leader in sensing technology and power semiconductor solutions for motion control and energy-saving systems, announces the new A33230 Sin/Cos 3D Hall-Effect Position Sensor IC, the smallest Sin/Cos 3D sensor on the market today. Provides cost-effective solutions and faster time-to-market for system designers in areas such as automotive and industrial.

     The A33230 contains two independent analog signal channels to provide excellent high-speed performance, while the small SOT23-W package size makes it ideal for applications where PCB space is at a premium. The IC can also be used as an angle sensor, provided the system includes an electronic control unit (ECU) capable of performing CORDIC calculations on both outputs.

     Combining vertical and planar Hall elements with sensing axes orthogonal to each other, the A33230 provides a 90° phase separation (phase difference?), making these sensors intrinsically independent of pole spacing and air gap. The A33230 is pre-programmed to measure angles in any plane (XY, XZ or YZ) while providing independent sine and cosine outputs.
