Advanced Energy's 48V open rack power supplies save energy in data centers and ensure interoperability and system stability

     Advanced Energy has announced a high-density, high-efficiency 48V, 36kW, double-fed, open-frame power supply, highlighting its use in hyperscale computing equipment and enterprise-class data centers, where computing systems and storage The equipment is more stable and reliable during operation.

     Advanced Energy's new Artesyn 2U rack power supplies are 97 percent energy efficient, feature a hot-swappable controller, and support up to twelve 48V, 3kW open rack rectifiers. These rectifiers have built-in automatic transfer switches (ATS) that automatically switch the input to another AC source whenever a power loss from the main AC source is detected without interruption of the output voltage during switching.

These are the two major challenges they have to face. The old rack power supply uses a 12V architecture, and the new generation power supply uses a 48V architecture. The result of this development is that the conduction loss is reduced to only 1/16 of the previous, and the specification of the open system The requirements also ensure that products from different brands can be interoperable and reduce the overall system cost. Advanced Energy's open rack power supplies and rectifiers meet these requirements, and the newly added automatic transfer switch (ATS) maximizes the available time."

     Advanced Energy This ORv3 compliant 36kW rack power supply is compatible with star, delta and single phase input configurations and features a hot-swappable, DMTF Redfish compatible rack controller for easy and secure Ethernet performs safety monitoring and control functions. The 48V, 3kW rectifier built into this rack power supply is basically a high-line single-phase AC-DC power supply that converts an input voltage between 200V (AC) and 277V (AC) to a 48V output. The output voltage is limited to a narrow frequency band to avoid bulky designs, and also allows the AC-DC power supply to perform 4:1 DC/DC conversion to power downstream 12V loads.

     This rack power supply and associated rectifiers are fully compliant with EN61000-4-5 and EN55035 standards for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), as well as IEC/UL/EN62368 product safety standards.
