3M's 4492/4496 Series Acrylic Adhesive Double Sided Polyethylene Foam Tape

     3M's 4492 and 4496 series of double-sided tapes are closed cell polyethylene foam carrier tapes. It is designed for demanding indoor and outdoor installation and bonding applications. A notable feature is its ability to conform and bond to irregular surfaces. It has good temperature resistance and long-term durability.

     The 4492 Series Flexible Foam Tape is ideal for irregular surfaces, speeding up the installation process while achieving a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. The tape is 1/32" thick for high adhesion and reliability on many surfaces (1/16" thick for the 4496 series). Series 4492 and 4496 tapes provide extremely high final adhesion to many plastic surfaces and are designed for demanding indoor and outdoor general purpose installation and bonding applications. Common uses include automotive mirror bonding, decorative trim, nameplates and other general mounting applications.

     3M's double-sided tape can speed up installation, increase installation strength, and improve installation aesthetics. Unlike mechanical fasteners such as screws, bolts and studs, double-sided tape does not leave perforations. This tape can be easily applied by hand or with a tape dispenser and requires no special application equipment to achieve a strong bond.

     Double-sided tapes consist of foam, paper, film or tissue carrier coated on both sides with a pressure sensitive adhesive. The adhesive is protected by a release liner and can be removed at the time of use, or until the adhesive surface is attached. It can also be used in construction, manufacturing, art and hobby applications.
